Veterinarian Presented With First Ever CVMA Outstanding Achievement Award
July 28, 2021 - The CVMA would like to honour a special veterinarian for his integral role in helping communicate pertinent information to veterinary teams during the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only has he hosted 15 of CVMA’s Veterinary Townhall Webinars – Navigating through COVID-19, but he has answered countless queries and provided his much sought-after guidance in clinic operations and practical ap- plications. The recipient of the first ever
CVMA Outstanding Achieve- ment Award graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College with
a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and spent time in private practice prior to completing a large animal internal medicine residency and Doctor of Veteri- nary Science graduate program. He is now a Professor at the On- tario Veterinary College, Director of the University of Guelph Cen- tre for Public Health and Zoonoses, Chief of Infection Control at the Ontario Veterinary College Health Sciences Centre, and is a member of the Tripartite Global Leaders Group on Antimi- crobial Resistance. He is a veteri- nary internist, a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary
Internal Medicine, a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, and has an active re- search program focusing on in- fectious diseases, particularly those that can be transmitted be- tween animals and people. He lives outside of Guelph, Ontario with his family and a collection of pets, including a dog, cats, fish, and occasionally small livestock. We present the CVMA Outstand- ing Achievement Award to Dr. Scott Weese in recognition of his valuable contributions made to the veterinary profession during extraordinary circumstances.
