A Card is a winner


s part of its ongoing rollout of online grade card applications, the Scottish Joint Industry Board (SJIB) has introduced the new Academically Qualified Person (AQP) card.


The new card is for operatives and managers who have further education or higher education electrotechnical qualifications that do not fit the standard industry-recognised electrotechnical occupations. Like other Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) cards, it can be applied for using a computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phone via the dedicated ECS Card portal, which was launched by the SJIB in May. Fiona Harper, Director of Employment and Skills at SELECT and The Secretary of the SJIB, said: “We are delighted to introduce this new AQP card as one of the options offered by the ECS Card portal. “The portal has proved very successful so far and will help make things quicker and easier for SELECT Members and the wider industry. We will keep listening to feedback and add further resources as they are needed.” To be eligible for the new card, applicants


must hold an electrical engineering degree or a further education qualification in an electrotechnical discipline at SCQF Level 8 or 7, e.g. an HND or HNC. They must also have completed the ECS Health, Safety and
