Non-Ferrous Founders’ Society and Investment Casting Institute Announce Joint Effort to Improve Investment Casting Supply Chain for DoD

our Government and Armed Forces to obtain from its supply base. Reviewing the thousands of bid solicitations issued daily by these agencies is time consuming and a barrier to participation for all but a few of the industry’s largest casting suppliers. This has led to an environment where very few of our nation’s investment casting foundries participate in military and defense supply chain activities. In response, Non-Ferrous Founders’ Society (NFFS) has developed the Integrated Casting Order Network

on-Ferrous Founders’ Society (NFFS), a not-for-profit trade association representing the non-ferrous metal casting industry, and Investment Casting Institute, a
(ICON) program. ICON is a cloud based B2B portal that identifies sales opportunities available from the Department of Defense, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and other federal procurement agencies and directs them to foundries that either have existing tooling for that part; or, have the right combination of material and process capabilities to manufacture the required component. NFFS and ICI have partnered to provide ICON program capabilities to ICI members effective immediately. The goal is to increase the number of investment casting foundries participating in the supply chain for our nation’s defense and military customers. Specific efforts will be taken to identify existing defense-related investment casting tooling, and to identify specific material and process capabilities for individual investment casting foundries. This information will be used to drive significant DoD and DLA business opportunities to ICI members and the broader investment casting industry.
