his week has been a week of firsts for us, both Erin Almaleh and myself. We travelled, yes by plane,


for the first time since the pandemic hit. We followed all mandated mask requests at the airports and in airplanes and were pleasantly surprised that our fellow travelers did as well! Once we reached our destination, Grand Rapids, Michigan, we were happy to see the hustle and bustle of the business district. Restaurants, hotels, stores, masks were not required, business was thriving and it felt as if life was restored to pre- pandemic expectations and hope. Once we arrived at the hotel and


checked in, once again no masks required, we rode the elevator to our respective rooms. With the Hilton App, you are also offered Contactless Arrival, which allows you to check-in to the Hotel and access your room without interacting with a front desk attendant. The hotel and DeVos place are great locations for our upcoming 68th Annual

Technical Conference and Expo. The Grand River flows right outside, with many windows placed throughout the Expo Hall and hotel to take advantage of the natural beauty and wonder. To ensure your safety when attending


this year’s event, there have been a number of precautions incorporated by both the hotel and the exhibition hall. For example, automatic, touchless coffee urns will be in use, food service will also be touchless, incorporating a combination of pre-plated and served food stuffs and lavatory access is now hands-free as foot petals have been incorporated at all access points. Delegates will notice that the


Technical Conference will be situated in a larger than usual space, allowing for social distancing based on CDC guidelines, and all attendees who have not been vaccinated will be required to wear face masks. In fact, we are encouraging those who have been vaccinated to wear masks as well,


though this is not a requirement. We are confident that our 2021


Technical Conference and Expo in Grand Rapids will be an exciting and safe environment for us to meet.


For


many, this will be the first time that you will be able to interact with other Industry professionals, your friends and customers. Our two main networking events, the Sunday evening and Tuesday evening receptions will be held without restrictions.
