CELEBRATING NIGHTLIFE TOGETHER

At the heart of communities in towns & cities across the UK, our nightlife industry is integral to our national identity. As the industry that has arguably been the hardest hit by the impact of coronavirus, it’s time to stand up and support the industry that we as a nation are so passionate about.

It’s not just about the bars, nightclubs and restaurants. It’s about the moments they create. We live our lives in nightlife – and we are celebrating that with the communities they’re at the heart of.

From first kisses to proposals. New friendships & overdue reunions. And the titans of culture born on the stages and dancefloors of the UK’s flourishing nightlife scene.

It’s time to stand side by side with venues, freelancers & communities and declare #WeAreNightlife.

Industry leading insurance broker NDML, alongside the Night Time Industries Association, has spearheaded the campaign, travelling the length and breadth of the country, visiting some of

the nation’s most iconic or memorable venues.

The team sat down with industry leaders including:

• Alex Proud – Proud Cabaret, London & Brighton;

• Matt Farrell – Graffiti Spirits Group, Liverpool;

• Tristan Moffat – The Piano Works, London;

• Andy Dodd – Flipside Cocktail Club, Bristol;

• Andy Blackett – Fabric, London.

Far from looking back at the trials of the last year, #WeAreNightlife is a celebration of the future, recognising the things that make nightlife great. From the most memorable moments, what drove these figures to forge a career in the industry, and what they’re most looking forward to returning to.

The underlying message throughout all these interviews is great experiences and togetherness. The need for people to be together and be inspired in venues which inspire a smile. That’s what nightlife is about, and alongside the entire industry, we’re thrilled that it’s back once more.

The campaign will aim to raise awareness of these venues, and nightlife in general, to encourage the public to get back to enjoying what they’ve missed for so long.

In addition, the campaign is also working on an ambitious community art project aiming to commission nightlife murals in all major nightlife cities across the UK. Music, art, community and culture are all inextricably linked. And this will be an opportunity to bring them all together. Each city’s mural will be unique, recognising the cultural contributions made by nightlife in the local area. A way to contribute to the aesthetic of the nightlife scene, engage communities and drive consumers back to nightlife venues.

To take part in the campaign, visit ndml.co.uk/wearenightlife and watch the interviews, register interest in taking part in future recordings, or suggest a mural location for your city.
