Care Cabs has not only been voted the best taxi service in Medicine Hat this year but has consistently claimed that prestigious title since 2014.


“I believe we’ve won it every year,” said Paul Tunbridge, manager Care Cabs. “We’re very proud of that and .... thank all our customers for their support.”


Tunbridge says the Care Cabs app, that allows riders to request a cab, is very popular with those who prefer not to use the telephone. The app also provides information on how far the cab is from the collection point.


“When the cab gets close it will send you a message.....” said Tunbridge.

On a day-to-day basis it is the drivers that makes Care Cabs a favourite.


Tunbridge says in Medicine Hat there are many customers that frequently use the service and are well known to the drivers.


Drivers are told to treat an older passenger like they would want their parent or grandparent to be treated. When it comes to young people, treat them like they’d want their own children to be treated by others, said Tunbridge.


“If you follow that guideline you’re not going to fare wrong,” he said.


A number of the taxis are equipped with “Bruno” electric swivel car seats to accommodate passengers with limited mobility.


Care Cabs operates like a co-operative with drivers owning a vehicle and a share in the business.


“It’s a collective effort and is another reason why we do so well because the owners of the company are involved on a day-to-day basis.....,” said Tunbridge. “Our owners are out there every day picking up people.”
