or eight years, the Medicine Hat News has asked readers to vote on who they see as the “Best of Medicine Hat” in local business.


This year, like in 2020, we are seeing “the best” come out in all of us.


During the last year, everyone has experienced the ups and downs of the COVID-19 pandemic. The social isolation and the restrictions to stall the spread of the respiratory virus have made existing within the pandemic demanding, but they have also delivered a sharp, steep and heavy blow to businesses.


Many stores and retailers, restaurants and events have closed or curtailed their operations, while some


experienced a closure, reopening, then closure again.


Essential service workers are the best, from janitors to doctors, from nurses to grocery clerks to truck drivers, to police and firefighters, and on and on and on.


Business owners who have put their insight, ingenuity and hard work towards weathering this storm are the best.


Within the pages of this publication are the winners of the Reader’s Choice Awards Best of Medicine Hat.


As we have seen month after month, supporting local business is at the core of what community can do and in Medicine Hat and area, this should be easy to provide... after all, all our businesses are the best.
