Vocational Training 16
For the poor, everyday life can be harsh and unyielding. They wonder if it is possible to leave the miserable circumstances in which they are trapped.
But how do we enable people to be self-sufficient in the future? That’s where solid Christian outreach can make a major impact.
First of all, WME recognizes a personal relationship with Jesus Christ has the most dramatic effect on the future path of any person. That’s the spiritual component of our outreach.
AS TO THE NATURAL COMPONENT, VOCATIONAL ASSISTANCE IS AN EXTREMELY EFFECTIVE WAY TO PUT PEOPLE ON A BETTER PATH IN LIFE. This can take many forms. It may be supplying tailoring lessons and a sewing machine so a mother can support her family. For many women, basic cosmetology tools provide a regular income. Giving a man fishing nets, a small boat or mechanic’s tools means steady work and more food for his children. In some areas, computer training can open doors to a steady job with better pay.
