13 Water Wells
CLEAN WATER…It’s something we don’t often think about. For many, safe water generally requires a trip to the kitchen. But for people in remote and impoverished areas, safe drinking water is a treasured commodity.
Some people without ready access to water pray for rain so they can catch falling liquid in containers. In other areas, women and children walk with heavy vessels for miles to get water needed to drink, cook, clean and bathe. There are other communities with water nearby, but it is dangerous due to water-borne disease and pollution. And for some, their governments simply can’t or won’t provide them with clean water that is easy to access.
Clean water is a critical starting point for changing lives.
When water is unsafe, an entire community suffers. People have a hard time growing food, raising livestock or preventing disease and malnutrition. YOU CAN STOP HUNGER, HEAL DISEASE, AND SAVE LIVES WITH THE SIMPLE GIFT OF CLEAN WATER.
People are grateful and curious when they see Christian compassion extended via the free gift of clean water. It opens wide a door for Native Missionaries to impact entire villages.
The cost of a well starts around $3,500 and goes up, depending on the local terrain, necessary depth and equipment available. And for wells that are already operating, regular maintenance is necessary and parts must be replaced. You can provide a new pump or maintenance for an existing water well with a gift of $130.
