his new portal is an exciting development for the SJIB and is another example of how we’re maximising technology to help


Members, particularly


during the pandemic. Here’s a step-by-step guide to how it will work:


Step 2: Pick a card


Step 1: Choose your specialism The new ECS Cards section will be broken down into the following specialist areas: ●Electrotechnical ●Management ●Network infrastructure (originally datacomms) ●Fire, emergency and security systems (FESS) ●Cabling and jointing ●Building controls.

After selecting your specialism, a list of diff erent cards will appear. Clicking on a card will then reveal a summary of the criteria needed to either obtain it for the fi rst time, renew it or apply for an upgrade. If you believe you meet these criteria, just click on the appropriate application form.


Step 3: Fill in the detail You’ll be asked to complete various sections, some mandatory, others


optional, as well the dates on which you completed specifi c training. You should then upload copies of relevant certifi cates.


Step 4: Check that everything’s in order At this stage, if you fail to provide the correct information or upload certifi cates, you’ll be unable to proceed to the next section. This means you may have to organise specifi c training before you can complete the application.
