DEATH BY ROCK AND ROLL The Pretty Reckless

Here comes the lady in red … lead singer on Death by Rock and Roll and that is Taylor Momsen. Now, women of rock have been sparkin’ the heart for over 50 years. Think Janis Joplin, Heart, Deborah Harry or Chrissie Hynde. Momsen can join that list with honors with a phenomenal band and her truly uproarious voice. Starting out in 2009, The Pretty Reckless is no stranger on the music scene … just so happened I discovered them in 2021 for the first time. Call me a Bon Jovi guy or as hard as Led Zeppelin, yet when Taylor Momsen came upon my ears, she was “taylor-made” for these tumultuous times. Just call me a “Momsen man.” Available February 12

DIGITAL BONFIRE Decouplr

Feeling introspective and fighting between optimism and dread? Then just Decouplr! This

electronic duo is wrapped with emotions from vocalist Bailey Walker and the synth sensations from Adam Laub, which are a perfect mix … pardon the pun. It’s almost like a transcendent recreation from The Bird and The Bee. Familiar with them? Decouplr is dreamy, fast-paced and slowly melancholy, and this thoughtful set of songs is just fine for a February day of rain with the sun eventually breaking through. “Wait what?” as “Punchline” seems to have a bitter grip lyrically and as she sings, “That may be next year and it will be easier to cope.” Here’s to hearts and flowers and the hope that Cupid’s arrow hits where it counts. Available February 19

Bill Biss has been a “working guy” in the publishing business since 2000. His writing focuses in on the people who create magic in music, film and books since that time. Biss has a knowledge that even the remarkable entertainment columnist Liz Smith found admirable. He has been a member of “Team Rage” since its inception in 2007.
