Delicious Delivery Solutions from Central Foods

It’s estimated that, due to Covid-19 regulations, 2020 has seen a huge rise in spend in food delivery – more than 40% on the previous year. While according to research by market insights business The NPD Group, delivery visits are predicted to have soared by 16% last year to approximately 12 million each month.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has had a massive impact on the hospitality sector, but takeout and delivery is one area that’s really shone,” explains Gordon Lauder, MD of frozen food distributor and supplier to the food service sector Central Foods. “Venues that have adapted and been able to switch to offering delivery have used it as a lifeline to enable them to carry on trading, while outlets that already

“All the figures suggest that delivery is the stand-out sector currently, as consumers rush to support their favourite restaurants and outlets, and venues adjust and adapt to survive.”

Aviko’s Home Delivery Report 2020 revealed that 98% of the consumers it surveyed had ordered either a delivery or takeaway during lockdown. While the NPD Group research suggests that by the end of 2020, meal deliveries could have topped one billion.
