FOCUSONFEEDING FOR CONDITION THIS WINTER
TopSpec Super Conditioning Flakes are ahighly innovativemuesli blend that is 25% moreconditioning than traditional conditioning mixes and cubes. Super Conditioning Flakes include cooked
naked oatsand thereforeprovide ‘fast-releasing’
energy.Asanapproximateguide 1.5kg(3lb) of Super Conditioning Flakes will replace2kg (4lb)oftraditional cereals/cereal-based feeds. Super Conditioning Flakes aredesigned to be
added to aTopSpec Feed Balancer or supplement and thereforecontain no added vitamins or trace-elements. That is whytheyare called a ‘blend,’because theyare ablend of straight rawmaterials rather than acompletefeed. One of the ways in which theyare superior
to moststraightshowever, is that theyhave been supplemented with the major minerals calcium and sodium. Forexample feeding Super Conditioning Flakes instead of oatsto broodmares should eliminatethe need to add asource of calcium, usually limestone. Super Conditioning Flakes arefull of naturally
oil-rich ingredientsand arevery palatable. ‘Naturally oil-rich ingredients’ contain intracellular oil. This is oil that occurswithin the cells of aplant. Feeding intracellular oil is avery palatable and highly-available wayofproviding oil in the diet. These caloriesare balanced with high qualitysoya as aprotein source and with calcium and salt. Because the flakes contain cooked oatsasone of their major ingredientstheycontain amedium
levelofstarch. Super Conditioning
Flakes areparticularly beneficial where weight gain is required but feed sizescannot be increased or are already toolarge. Theyare ideal for showhorsesand bloodstock being prepared forsales. Theyare also
very useful for broodmares in late gestation, when their digestivecapacityis reduced by the increasing size of the foal and broodmares in early lactation, when the energy demands on the mareare very high and maintaining condition canbedifficult. These flakes aresuitable in controlled
amountsfor elderly horsesthatstruggle to maintain condition, forstallions and forfussy feedersthatrequireincreased calorie intake but dislikeoil or greasy,high-fat premixes.
