What a year it has been for everyone. And, as we enter the Christmas season, what a year it still is. In the Blyth Valley Team


Lanterns at WinterLight! Millennium Green Shorter days aren't all bad, the


earlier darkness means you might still be lucky enough to be out and about when the night animals are on the move. Recently, otters have been seen around the waterways. Gerard Roche told us that as early as 5:30pm he was crossing from the Saxon's Way car park to the town park by the underpass when he disturbed an otter, just visible thanks to the underpass lighting. The otter swam off underwater down river. Keep your eyes peeled and let us know of any exciting sightings. You will be seeing work parties again on the Green over winter, as permitted by the rules and with careful social distancing and cleaning of tools. It won't be long until we're into the New Year and then, in February comes WinterLight! Helped by Halesworth Library as always. WinterLight isn't likely to be in


quite the same format as previous years as we'll have to cater for whatever virus restrictions might be in place at the time. But, that


just gives us a creative challenge that we're determined to meet. Watch this space for further information about our annual February celebration. 2021 will be the 6th event. If you remember the lantern-lit wassailing, the Ghost of Fred the Wherryman, the glowing Fire Chicken and Owl, the illuminated fifteen foot Caterpillar and breath-taking Moth, and last year's eels-on-a- wheel and all the mystery and fun of the storytelling, you'll know that this Halesworth Festival is worth looking out for!

Ministry, all forteen churches were closed to everyone in lockdown one, then open for individual private prayer, then services, then closed again! Like all other centres where people might congregate it's been an up and down, chop-and-change existence and we still cannot open our smallest churches as we just do not have enough volunteers to open, steward, clean and monitor them (under the strict covid rules we all rightly have had to apply). BUT we have been busy – with a daily service morning and evening live streamed on Facebook, Zoom worship twice a week, and of course maintaining the food bank service and it's sister organisation the Community Larder as it grew into existence.


And lots of buddy schemes,


phone trees and letters, as well as maintaining our services to bereaved families and briefly in between lockdowns, some weddings too. AND NOW... we are open for worship again, Christmas is coming and we have lots of choice. Some services are outdoors so we can sing.
