The latest news, keeping residents and harbour users up to date.

T

WINTER AT DART HARBOUR

he river may be quiet, but at Dart Harbour we are busy at this time of the year. Putting plans together for developments in 2021, carrying out maintenance and refurbishment of Dart Harbour moorings – we inspect, check and carry out any refurbishments for all Dart Harbour moorings every year. 2021 will see the replacement of

Lynx our pilot boat with Mallard, a Lochin 33, which was originally built for Cattewater Harbour and has also been in service at Great Yarmouth. Mallard is now reaching the end of an extensive refit, including the installation of new engines, with much of the work carried out by the Dart Harbour apprentices. We are expecting Mallard to be busy this year with 10 cruise visits booked for the 2021 season. The office are busy allocating

moorings to customers on the waiting list for the moorings that

have been given up during 2020 and early 2021. Preparations and data checking of our customers and their boats/ moorings are being completed ready for our renewal invoices that go out in January and March.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE/ HARBOUR MASTER The recruitment exercise to appoint a new Chief Executive/Harbour Master has been completed and the post has been accepted by the chosen candidate. More details about our new Harbour Master will be announced soon. Captain Richard Eggleton will

continue to help Dart Harbour during the transition period, until our new Chief Executive/Harbour Master starts work and during the handover period after he starts work with us.
