having anywhere to stay, people still want to have that personal one-to-one contact when here and for that they rely totally on visitor centres. As a self-financing centre, we need the business community to recognise the extent of our role and how vital our presence as the shop window of Dartmouth acts as the linchpin to all sectors of the hospitality sector. So it’s getting the balance and

ultimately making it commercially viable. Indeed, as part of Visit England’s strategic framework for tourism, it is now looking at the whole gamut of tourist information and the role of TICs. Without doubt, the internet

and access to new information sources have played a huge role in changing the way people holiday. When you consider you can sit at home, surf the internet and get the information you require in advance, why would you sit on a telephone between 9-5 waiting for someone to answer? But having said that, when on

holiday the last thing many of us want to be doing is checking our mobile phone or iPad. You want local people, local

advice, and that personal touch. So, it comes down to how much does the local community value that. The reality of the Covid situation

isn’t going away any time soon and the way ahead for us all remains uncertain. What remains clear is that if we

are to stand any chance of surviving, the Dartmouth Visitor Centre needs the support of the town. We hope and believe the role we

play and the work we are doing is key to the future of the place we love. We believe Dartmouth would be

a poorer and sadder place without us. By supporting our visitor guide and our website visitdartmouth.uk you will be helping to keep us alive. We need you to help us do what

we do best. We need you to help us to stay open.

Are visitors to Dartmouth

important to your business? If so, then promote yourself to those visitors either before they visit and/or once they are here in Dartmouth looking for things to do, where to go and where to eat, drink and shop.

The Official Dartmouth Visitor Guide To help them get the most from their stay, many visitors this year have picked up copies of the 2020 Official Dartmouth Visitor Guide. Copies have ‘raced off the shelves’ since Dartmouth reopened. The Guide is produced by South Devon Magazines (publishers of By The Dart magazine) on behalf of the Dartmouth Visitor Centre.

Official Dartmouth Visitor website - make sure you are listed. As well as the Guide, we are also managing sales of online memberships of the Official Dartmouth Visitor website (www.visitdartmouth.uk) on behalf of the DVC. This will be the pre-eminent shop window for the town and local area in 2021. Membership allows your business to be seen just when potential visitors are planning their stay.

Promote your business to visitors and support the Dartmouth Visitor Centre The DVC is an important contact point for many thousands of visitors providing information, advice and support so visitors fully enjoy their time in the town and local area - all local businesses benefit from their work. But this service costs money - the guide and website are, therefore, an essential source of funding for them. We encourage all local businesses -

accommodation, hospitality, activities etc to support the DVC by promoting themselves in the Guide and/or online. In doing so, businesses can reach an unrivalled number of potential customers and better stand out to drive more customers their way.

Competitive Low Cost Advertising Advertising rates are set at a very competitive level with special offers for using both the Guide and subscribing to an online membership. 2021 Guide advertising prices are unchanged on this year and start from £199 + vat.
