nyone visiting Premier’s Noss on Dart Marina since October this year cannot fail to have noticed the tangible progress
towards transforming the site that once hosted the famous Philip & Son shipyard. Smart new pontoons are appearing and new buildings are now taking shape. Amongst all of this activity, however, there has been another, less obvious change involving Network Yacht Brokers, based at Noss since 2005, which has seen a new addition to the team. Yacht brokers act for people looking to sell their
boat by presenting a clear, accurate prospectus to a wide market of interested boat-seekers, then working closely with potential buyers to ensure their requirements are fully met. The market in Dartmouth and its surrounds is consistently active, advantaged by its glorious coastline and many enchanting waterways. With so many boats changing hands there is much for the team to help with. Since the spring lockdown, business has been particularly brisk as people and families search for ways to find more quality time and to connect with the world outdoors – fortunately there have been plenty of boats for sale to meet the demand from newcomers and exchangers alike. The signs are that this activity will continue through the winter months and well into next year. Network Yacht Brokers has been under the custodianship of Phil Howling for many years, Phil being well known to
20
local boating communities as a trusted and knowledgeable source of advice and support. NYB has now grown to become a major group of over 20 independent offices, based around the UK and in Europe, collaborating to form a marketplace that can’t be overlooked, and is a first port of call for many seeking either to sell or to buy. The Dartmouth office now welcomes James Hester to the business, with Phil remaining alongside. James, together with his wife Jane, a teacher currently working nearby in Totnes, are thoroughly looking forward to immersing themselves in the local community and to making the most of all the area has to offer having moved to the town over the summer from nearby Somerset. Aside from being a seasoned sailor and skipper of his Malö yacht, James is actively involved in music, works as a school governor, as well as undertaking mentoring for young entrepreneurs.
Both James and Phil enjoy nothing better than to listen,
discuss, and advise on boat sales, whether for changing up, down, new or just different. If you are thinking of selling a boat over the winter or in the future then, of course, the team at NYB would love to hear from you!
