PUMP-OUT SYSTEMS 21
LeeSan unit for Portishead Marina E
stablished on the Southern bank of England’s River Seven, just to the North of Bristol, Portishead Marina
offers boat-owners a relaxed atmosphere, with a welcoming quayside of restaurants and craft ale pubs, including a microbrewery. However, up until now, the only pump-out facilities have been provided by a small, trolley- mounted LeeSan LSM80W unit. While this has worked reasonably well for the last five years, the owners, Boatfolk, recently decided that, due to increased demand, it was time to update these services. Since they were very happy with the performance of the mobile unit, Lee Sanitation was approached once again to specify and install a brand new and much larger, fixed pump- out unit, which was successfully installed and commissioned on 6 October, this year. After surveying the site and
discussing the current and future requirements for the equipment, an LS160WTS system was selected. This employs a well-proven Rheinstrom M60DV diaphragm suction pump and is token-operated by individual boat- owners. Installed on a dedicated pump-out
pontoon just inside the marina’s lock, the unit’s cabinet conceals a built-in transfer tank, which automatically discharges to the main sewer system. Berth-holders and visitors purchase a token to operate the unit and then follow simple instructions to empty their tanks as and when required. Karl Sutcliffe, Technical Director of
LeeSan, reported: “It’s very rewarding when an existing customer is so satisfied with our service that they come back to us to update to the next level of equipment. Of course, we will also be supporting the new installation with on-going service and back-up”. Not only did the team install and
commission the system, but Karl even delivered the unit to the site in his own pick-up as can be seen in the picture on this page! Lee Sanitation Ltd
