INBUSINESS VIEWPOINT

As an accredited member of the British Chambers of Commerce network, here in Northamptonshire we are skilled and experienced in lobbying on behalf of our members interests; in times of uncertainty or crisis we often call on those in power to provide clarity and certainty, so that the firms we proudly represent can plan and adapt for whatever circumstance we find ourselves in. Facing challenges together, we know we are resilient,

supported, and will emerge stronger. Never has that been truer than in face of Covid-19, and the myriad of different ways that businesses are having to alter the way they operate. As we all adjust to the ‘new normal’, it’s clearer each day, that ‘normal’ is different for each of us, and there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach. Companies, and the individuals who power them, have adapted admirably through the

worst of the crisis so far, and we’ve been heartened to hear from member businesses who have reached out – to our representation team for help navigating the various Government schemes, to our membership team for support, to our marketing team to share their news, and to our events team to get involved in our new online programmes. I encourage every reader to keep reaching out: we are here for you. As a Chamber we have also had to adapt, and have been considering carefully the long-term

delivery of our services; we are proud to play a vital role to so many businesses, and we’re determined to grow the strength of our network. Throughout the summer, the team have been working tirelessly to relaunch our events and training programmes, and we’re delighted to now be offering a full calendar of events, all Covid-secure. For those members who export, we will soon be rolling out a suite of export-related training programmes, which we know will be crucial as we countdown in Q4 to the end of the Brexit transition period. In these challenging times we encourage all members to engage with the team here at

the Chamber; from lobbying on your behalf, providing international trade documentation, networking and training opportunities, we’re proud to support your business and are confident that we are stronger together.

Yours, Louise Wall, Interim CEO, Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce
