Technology news TeamViewer Expands Remote Access all

Logitech joins the BYOM move with Swytch Swytch is a new collaborative

technology from Logitech that enables users to run meetings using any video conferencing platform, webinar or stream- ing software from their laptop. Using a single USB connec- tion, users can switch control of the camera, audio devices and display in meeting rooms to a laptop – making joining and hosting a video meeting on any platform easier than ever. This class of technologies first hit the headlines towards the end of last year, described by the acronym Bring Your Own Meeting. This allows users to use Swytch in a room with Mi- crosoft Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms, connecting a laptop to the room’s display, camera and audio devices for meetings hosted on other services. Swytch, a compact, one-ca-

ble laptop link, enables you to use your laptop to run meetings with any video conferencing platform, webinar or streaming software. With Swytch, joining video services is seamless, es- pecially if you’re transitioning to modern platforms like Zoom or Teams from legacy services. Just plug-in the Swytch USB connector to your laptop to quickly get high quality, native support of almost any external video meeting service, regard- less of what your room standard is. Once the meeting is fin- ished, unplug Swytch from the laptop to leave the room ready for the next video meeting.

Swytch consolidates HDMI and USB into one cable to proj- ect your screen from a laptop on the room’s display, at res- olutions up to 4K with crisp, clear

audio. Swytch provides up to 60W of power for laptops that charge via USB-C - you no longer need to rely on dongles, splitters,

or HDMI adaptors.

Compatibility with Logitech Sync makes it easy for IT to monitor and manage Swytch together

with other meeting

room devices, including Log- itech MeetUp, Rally and Tap. The Sync software is free. “Most room solutions are great and have made strides in becoming easier to use, but it’s often difficult to join meet- ings with any video service you

want,” said Scott Wharton, vice president and general manag- er of Logitech Video Collabo- ration. “For video to become ubiquitous, joining video calls with different platforms needs to become as easy as making a telephone call. With Swytch, we’re taking it a step beyond ‘making every room a meeting room’ and enabling a native ex- perience in conference rooms that anyone can use and en- joy.”

Logitech Swytch will be available for purchase globally later this month. Pricing starts at $999 / £899 and varies by country. For more information, please visit www.logitech.com/ Swytch or contact your local reseller.

Android devices TeamViewer has announced that it now offers remote access with active control and key- board input for the Google Pix- el series, Xiaomi smartphones, Oppo devices and many more. This applies to private users as well as business customers. Starting today, all smartphones running on an Android operat- ing system version 7 or higher can be supported by Team- Viewer, regardless of whether the user needs assistance with the installation of an app or the correction of serious errors. “It is extremely important for our business customers to

be able to freely choose the devices and not have to do without the support provided by TeamViewer,” says Mike Eis- sele, CTO at TeamViewer. “But also, in the private environment there are various smartphones in use and it is important for us to offer support for all devices and not only for the top brands. Everyone should be able to support their friends, parents or grandparents, regardless of their Android smartphone,” he adds.

Until now, keyboard sup- port was not available for all smartphones. However, now

the full scope of the TeamView- er software is available when connecting to a smartphone. Active access remains optional for the newly added devices, as the familiar QuickSupport app continues to allow screen shar- ing without active input. Full access is only granted after the installation

of the Universal

Add-On. The TeamViewer QuickSup- port App for Android has been downloaded more than 10 mil- lion times and supports peo- ple worldwide in solving minor and major problems with their smartphones.

Acclaim or Acclaim Plus LED panels, Draper is now shipping their Foundation Mount Sys- tem designed specifically for the Acclaim and Acclaim Plus series. Draper designed the Founda- tion Mount System specifically with installers in mind: walls that aren’t flat; floors that ar- en’t even; and tight installation deadlines are just a few of the headaches installers no longer need to worry about thanks to Foundation. Foundation’s design provides features that help a single technician install and

precisely align Acclaim

LED panels in significantly less time than ever before. The Foundation mounting system is preconfigured at the factory and ready to be installed right out of the box and it doesn’t require any onsite cutting or modifications.

“Speed and precision are built-in by design,” said Grant Wylie, director of AV product management for Draper. “Re- gardless of the LED display size, all assembly and install steps for our Foundation mount can be easily managed by one installation technician.” One of the most difficult parts

of a video wall installation is the alignment process of the LED panels and modules. Founda-

tion provides fast and precise plumb and level adjustment methods for perfect alignment of the panels while also keep- ing the LEDs safe from damage during installation. And when it’s time to service the display, Foundation’s side trim aids with quick and easy removal for additional access, again saving time and money. Versions

of the

for Barco XT and Unilumin UPanelS were

introduced

Foundation at

InfoComm 2020 and are also shipping. The Trim option for Foundation for Absen Acclaim Plus will be released soon, to be followed shortly thereafter by versions for additional LED brands.
