Has new homes.

Knowing that regular visitors to its centres will be missing seeing the horses, the charity’s staff are making sure supporters are able to keep in touch with their favourite residents by taking lots of upliſting photos (just like Rumpel and his delightful rainbow) and videos to share on its Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages – please take a look!

And while its centres are currently unable to host any special events for the school holidays, Redwings has been coming up with plenty of activities families can enjoy at home through its Young Reds At Home Academy, available for free through its website, to ensure young supporters can still get their horsey fix – and pick up some essential Redwings and equine welfare knowledge at the same time.

Having also had to cancel its annual Redwings Show, the charity has recently launched the Redwings Show Online, open to all horse and pet owners who’d like to join in a fun event with their four-legged friends at home, raise money for Redwings and be in with the chance of winning some prizes for themselves!

Stamp Out Strangles Redwings Horse Sanctuary

Being a registered charity 100% funded by donations, the love and care being given to Redwings’ rescued residents at this time could not take place without its supporters. Having always been financially prudent, Redwings is in the best position possible to weather the current storm. However, if predications about the ongoing economic impact of coronavirus are even partly true, then the Sanctuary is likely to face a funding deficit.

Having to close its visitor centres, including its giſt shops and cafes, resulted in an estimated £15,000 loss for the last few days of March alone (expected to rise to £150,000 by the end of June), while the charity has seen an 11% increase in costs, including feed and forage. Like all charities, Redwings has also seen a dip in income from community fundraising as events are cancelled and donations fall as people start to feel the impact on their own finances.

Redwings has launched an emergency coronavirus appeal to help ensure it has the funds it needs to meet the challenges of the coming months.
