MAY 2020 THE RIDER /3 Return To Business Operations Framework

Ottawa, ON, May 4, 2020 – Equestrian Canada (EC) would like to share a return to business operations framework with the Cana- dian equestrian community in anticipation of the con- clusion of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Please note: The busi-

ness operations framework is intended to be used a guideline and its implemen- tation is not mandated or re- quired. Therefore, EC cannot enforce or address any issues of non-compli- ance. Returns to business operations must be aligned with directives from your local and provincial govern- ment authorities.

the immediate and long- term financial impacts of COVID-19 on businesses and individuals alike. We are diligently fighting for fi- nancial support for the equine and equestrian indus-

tries and professionals, as well as to have those busi- nesses considered in the ear- liest stages of reopening at the provincial and federal levels. The framework has

been sent to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, The Honorable Marie- Claude Bibeau, to demon- strate how equine farms and equestrian facilities can safely return to normal busi-

ness activities as soon as possible upon the conclu- sion of the pandemic. Want to help to save

our working horses? Visit this page of the EC website for more information. Link:

Equestrian Canada Announces

As states of emergency

relating to COVID-19 begin to be lifted or phased out, equine farms and equestrian facilities can implement the appropriate protocols to pre- pare for the return to busi- ness operations. The goal of the framework is to provide guidelines that minimize the risk to participants and con- tinue to limit the transmis- sion of COVID-19 during the process of returning to pre-pandemic activity lev- els.

“COVID-19 has dealt

our industry many hard blows and it is imperative that we follow strict safety guidelines to ensure the pan- demic stays behind us,” said Yves Hamelin, EC CEO. “I extend my sincerest thanks to the PTSOs, EC staff and Canadian equine business owners who contributed to the development of these guidelines. Together and with the support of our com- munity, we look forward to focusing on rebuilding the Canadian equine industry and equestrian sport in a safe and successful man- ner.”

The return to business

operations framework can be found on the EC website, along with additional mate- rials including biosecurity posters for facilities, tem- plates and support resources to help adapt these guide- lines to your individual needs.
