AQHA Headquarters Due to local mandates

in the City of Amarillo, AQHA Headquarters will re- main closed to walk-in cus- tomers to protect the health and safety of AQHA cus- tomers, staff and the local community until further no- tice. AQHA will continue to monitor developments in the rapidly evolving coronavirus (COVID-19)

worldwide and the potential impact on the Association and AQHA events. Additional up- dates will be shared on AQHA.com as the informa- tion is available.

AQHA Cancels VRH World, RHC Finals, Cattle

Level 1 and NRSHA Na- tional Championships The American Quarter

Horse Association has made the decision to cancel the AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse World Championships, AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge Finals, AQHA Cat- tle Level 1 Championships, and National Ranch and Stock Horse Alliance Na- tional Championships sched- uled for June 23-27 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Due to the uncertainty

of the worldwide coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, AQHA leadership has made the decision to cancel these events for the safety and well- being of exhibitors, trainers, spectators and staff. Several factors went into the consid- eration of this decision, in- cluding but not limited to the health and safety of attendees; local, state and federal gov- ernment guidelines and man- dates; the potential economic impact the coronavirus will have on our members as this situation evolves; and shelter- in-place orders that have pre- vented exhibitors from competing with their horses leading up to the event. Feed- back was also gathered di- rectly from NRSHA alliance partners. In addition, AQHA disseminated a survey to AQHA exhibitors, who were qualified for the event, to gather additional feedback. After the careful considera- tion of members and alliance

partners, AQHA will not reschedule this event, but will make plans for an even greater AQHA VRH World, RHC Finals, Cattle Level 1 and NRSHA National Cham- pionships in 2021.

Level 1 Classes Added to Respective 2020 AQHA World Shows The American Quarter

pandemic, the AQHA Execu- tive Committee and AQHA staff cancelled the 2020 Nu- trena AQHA Level 1 Champi- onships earlier this spring to protect the safety and welfare of exhibitors, attendees, staff and the local communities hosting each show. Level 1 classes will be added to the respective AQHA world shows, pending local, state and government mandates due to the pandemic. Due to logistics, AQHA will only host the Nutrena Level 1 classes. Rookie and walk-trot classes will not be offered at the 2020 AQHA world shows. Nutrena Level 1 youth

New AQHA International Resources on AQHA.com The American Quarter

Horse Association is an inter- national equine breed registry with members in more than 100 countries around the world. AQHA members have access to member benefits, such as exclusive programs, sanctioned events, awards, recognition and much more! In addition to these member benefits, AQHA is proud to introduce a new international resource section on AQHA.com to provide inter- national members the re- sources they need to conduct their AQHA business.

The new international

section highlights interna- tional member programs, events and resources. It will also serve as a place from which international members can easily navigate to other sections of AQHA.com and access relevant registration resources, showing informa- tion and other helpful pages vital to completing AQHA business. Furthermore, the in- ternational resource pages will house international affil- iate contact information, a multilingual resource library, news and updates, and the “On the International Trail” blog. AQHA’s international members own more than 400,000 registered American Quarter Horses worldwide, nearly 15% of all registered American Quarter Horses. AQHA is dedicated to serving the Association’s international members and improving serv- ices to better meet their needs, including making resources more readily available through the new international section. CQHA Declares May to be the month to honour ALL Canadian Barn Cats

“Meowy” May Everyone! Who doesn’t love a good

cat picture? Social media is full of people sharing photos cele- brating their cats. So the CQHA Social Media Team thought that special recognition should be given to the hard working or barely working barn cats in our lives.

At the end of the Month

of May, CQHA will be intro- ducing one cat who will assume the honorary role of the “CQHA Barn Cat”. A “spokes cat” to speak for all Canadian Barn Cats! CQHA will provide that

lucky feline with a featured roll in their monthly social media calendar, where he or she will help us humans understand the

extraordinary lives that barn cats lead! To nominate your barn

cat, to be considered for the role of “CQHA Barn Cat” post photos of your barn cat or cats to your social media (Instagram Twitter and Face- book) using the hashtag #CQHAbarncat.

CQHA Expands its Social Media Footprint CQHA is pleased to an-

nounce that you can now fol- low us on Instagram @cndquarterhorseassoc and on Twitter @CndQuarter- Horse.

Launching May 1st,

2020, followers can expect content that explores the cur- rent activities of Quarter

Horses and their owners across the country, stories that share our Canadian history with Quarter Horses, and communi- cations about the projects and indicatives of the Canadian Quarter Horse Association. A TicTok presence will

soon be added, where we hope to engage young Quarter Horse fans in Canada and allow them to lead way in preparing fun ac- tivities and challenges that we can all do with our horses at home, on the trail or while sta- bled at competitions. Aimed at mirroring the

diverse community of Quarter Horse owners and enthusiasts and their horse activities throughout Canada, the CQHA social media platforms will evolve into live streams on

FaceBook and Instagram in the coming weeks and months and eventually CQHA will launch its own YouTube channel full of relevant Canadian content, educational videos, and inter- views that will build on the ver- satility of the Quarter Horse, and the diversity of the Canadi- ans who love them. The CQHA Board of Di-

rectors and Media Team has been hard at work over the past few months, creating a Canada wide network of collaborators to produce an array of daily content. Collaboration opportu- nities are available, so if you have ideas and would like to get involved please contact CQHA Media director Laurie Haughton at info@cqha.ca.
