BUSINESS REPORT

SCI-FI RESTAURANT IS SET TO OPEN

May the fourth be with you! An inside joke among fans of a certain movie franchise that would certainly be at home at 12th Street, Central Milton Keynes. It was also the perfect point in

the calendar to have launched Robotazia, the UK’s first-of-its- kind, sci-fi robot-themed restaurant and events centre, which includes real-life working robot waiters and waitresses. The date may have sadly passed without this much-anticipated launch, but owners Mark Swannell and Joy Gittens, along with their extraordinary collection of custom, recycled and repurposed creations, are eagerly anticipating the time when they can open their doors and welcome people of all ages to their amazing venue. From light fixtures and

counters, to huge robot displays, Robotazia is based on the underlying ethos of creative reuse, encouraging recycling and repurposing of items in order to produce extraordinary creations.

Having met at a sci-fi convention, and with Mark’s background in construction and Joy’s in business management, their journey to launching Robotazia is a path many successful entrepreneurs have trodden. With their passion for sci-fi, combined with their corporate backgrounds, Robotazia began as a small exhibition – showcasing their original designs alongside robots they had acquired and restored. There was such demand that after a successful pilot launch consisting of a robot exhibition, a movie theatre, and a robot cafe, which was extended month after month, Mark and Joy knew they had so much more to offer. Robotazia’s launch date will be

announced as soon as possible. Visit: www.robotazia.co.uk
