FIVE TIPS FOR WORKING COMFORTABLY FROM HOME

EXPERT HELPS FIRMS ADAPT THEIR SERVICES

Founded in 2018 by Nick Lygo-Baker (pictured), Paradigm CX Ltd. enables businesses to drive engagement and become more customer-focused. Nick is a customer

experience expert, specialising in customer strategy, voice of customer and journey mapping solutions. For over 15 years Nick has helped organisations improve their performance by understanding, measuring and acting on insights to close the gap between employee and customer experiences. With the recent outbreak of

Covid-19, Nick was called on to facilitate a convergence of different pizza businesses, in order to adapt their services to fit a radically altered customer landscape, while also ensuring their employees were all able to access the necessary Government amendments to their working status, in order to carry out their roles. Paradigm CX set the

strategy across the businesses and changed how they operated. Nick said: “When the behaviour changed in the background, the businesses stopped losing money. Achieving this has required swift thinking and fast action.” As a result of Paradigm

CX’s expertise, the businesses involved have been able to deliver their pledged 500,000 meals per week. Nick added: “If you have a

customer, by definition, you have a customer experience. Design this experience with purpose, you will build fantastic customer and employee engagement.”

Adapt Global Group are specialists in creating perfect workplace solutions. Here they share their top tips on how to make your home the ideal working environment.

2020 has certainly been surreal! For the first time, millions of people are now working from home instead of their usual workplace. Due to the rushed

circumstances that these changes took place, many will have created a ‘make-do’ workspace, such as working from their laptops at the kitchen table or even their sofa. But sitting at these workspaces

for prolonged periods can lead to eye strain, back and neck pain. As specialists in ergonomic working, Adapt Global have shared some useful tips to ensure you’re adopting a healthy working posture:

1. Avoid working

‘MANY WILL

HAVE CREATED A ‘MAKE-DO’ WORKSPACE’

with your monitor against backlit areas or windows, this helps eliminate eye strain. 2. To stop awkward bending and

twisting, try to create a dedicated workspace with everything you need in easy reach. 3. Use a chair that supports the

curve of your spine. Your shoulders should be relaxed, with a right-angle bend at your knees and your feet flat on the floor. 4. Place your screen so that it’s

approximately 500 to 700mm away from you. The top edge of the monitor should be in-line with your eye height.

5. If you’re

working from a laptop, elevate it to prevent craning

your neck (try using books or a box). If you’re

lucky enough to have a desk, we recommend a laptopplatform. This frees up workspace and lets you position your laptop so you can work in comfort.

BEATING THE DRUM FOR POSITIVITY

Drum United is a Social Enterprise set up in 2012 and now based in Milton Keynes. The team is led by visionary Adey Peterkin. “We provide uplifting, unifying and social drumming activities for

businesses, corporates, education faculties and community settings. I believe that the foundations of drumming are within all of us and I am a firm believer in the power of drumming to bring people together. I’m so passionate at facilitating regular social-clubs and team events to help inspire, encourage and develop creative skills, well-being and unity within any workforce. We’ve developed the Positive Mindful Drumming program to combine

positive affirmations with rhythms based on a global fusion of drumming. An example mantra is “The power of positive thinking”. Saying the man tra in your inner voice helps develop a ‘growth mindset’ and tapping the rhythms helps improve well-being. Our drumming sessions are meditative and calming but also help increase concentration, focus and energy for any group. Drumming releases endorphins in the brain to make you feel good. You don’t even need a drum to experience this – our activities use drums, body percussion and household objects. Our ‘just cause' is to help improve wellbeing,

productivity and social cohesion on a local and global scale. We established as a social enterprise as we believe that the social rewards achieved in business are the priority. Visit drumunited.org and email
