EXTENDING PRODUCT LIFECYCLE

One of the great benefits of exporting is the variety of different markets available to choose from when formulating an effective export plan. By selecting wisely, you can greatly extend the lifecycle of a product or service, even if it seems like it may have matured in

your home market. Take for example a product in the technology sector. Different countries take up of tech’ can vary widely, depending on a

variety of local factors, for instance internet usage - • according to recent figures, both China and India still offer huge growth in potential usage, with only around 55% of their populations currently active. Compare that to the USA where it is over 75% and in France and Germany usage today has reached over 90% of their populations. So a business offering internet enabling technology would see massive potential in these

emerging markets, with possibly limited growth potential in ones nearer to home in Europe. Other factors can also influence the take up of a product or service, such as – • Local language (particularly in the software sector) • Legal requirements • Social and business practises I have been assisting clients for over 20 years in formulating and executing and effective

export plan. If you think I can help you, call me on 07713 614942, or email at john@aliumconsultants.com
