Coaldale carnage entertains fans for more than a decade
Kinsmen Club of Coaldale, has been a staple event for the area, with about 4,000 turning up to last year’s weekend-long event. The first Carnage in Coaldale was a one-day demolition derby event held in 2009, which saw about 1,100 attend.Over the years,the demo derby grew to accommodate more competitors coming out from across western Canada and the addition of a Mud Bog as a second day event. “Last year Carnage in Coaldale,we had 29 full-sized cars coming in

Canada.The first year of the event,we had a lot of more cars coming in from southern Alberta,”said Adam Parker, chairman of the Extreme Carnage in Coaldale, adding over the years they had gained support in the demo derby world. When the Kinsmen first put on Carnage in Coaldale,they had an
“idea”of what they were doing,and by the time the tenth year came around, the challenges they initially faced had “all evolved away”, and it was more a matter of fine-tuning and ensuring they put on the best event possible. About 120 volunteers are needed for the two-day event, putting in
more than 7,000
hours.Kinsmen organizers start planning in January, in order to make the event as best as possible for attendees.
