INDUSTRY NEWS AIS Training Heads to Guyana to Upskill Oil

and Gas Workers Leading energy sector trainer, AIS Training, is helping oil and gas service provider, Panthera Solutions, prepare its workforce in Guyana for an influx of offshore contracts.

Panthera Solutions, a joint venture partnership between Guyana’s Farfan & Mendes and Canada’s Crosbie Group Limited, provides world-class industrial solutions and value-added services to the emerging oil and gas industry in Guyana. After scooping several new contracts to provide Panthera Solutions’ services on the Liza Destiny in Guyana’s offshore sector, Panthera Solutions commissioned AIS Training to upskill its Guyanese staff with internationally recognised offshore qualifications in coatings application.

An experienced AIS Training instructor visited Georgetown in Guyana to deliver the Gold Standard SSPC Train the Painter course to several Panthera Solutions personnel. This qualification is an internationally recognised programme, developed by industry experts, to train delegates in the most advanced and innovative surface treatment and coatings techniques. Panthera Solutions staff passed the course with flying colours and are now qualified to undertake the most advanced levels of offshore coatings application.

Andrew Dinsdale, General Manager for Panthera Solutions, said: “We are in the process of multi-skilling our Guyanese workforce in anticipation of the growing requirements of the Guyanese oil and gas industry. We have a long-established relationship with AIS Training and recognise the quality of the training provided. Every course delivered by AIS Training has been exceptional and includes up-to- date, comprehensive subject matter and knowledgeable instructors.

“It was great that AIS Training was able to travel to our facility and deliver this particular training on-site. The training has boosted our staff competencies and enables us to continue to deliver the highest levels of service and quality standards for our customers.”

“In addition to painting and blasting, AIS Training has provided training in scaffolding and rope access.”

AIS Training instructor, Craig Fyfe, said: “We were delighted to work with Panthera Solutions to multi-skill its personnel in Guyana. Working offshore requires very specific health

and safety training requirements and this course has provided Panthera Solutions personnel with an important understanding of the processes and knowledge surrounding coatings application in an offshore environment.

“The UK and AIS Training is renowned across the globe for having the very highest industry standards and it’s great to be able to bring this expertise to the Guyanese market. As well as being able to deliver world- class training tailored to the client’s requirements, AIS Training is extremely nimble and can mobilise anywhere in the world whenever needed.”
