AV News Awards 2020 – the winners

It is not without a little sad- ness that we presided over the presentation of the final set of AV News Awards to presented at the Amsterdam RAI.

ISE visitor quality compensates for lower numbers

ISE 2020 saw those who really needed to be at ISE were pres- ent at the show, meaning that the quality of visitors encoun- tered by exhibitor AV News was universally high. The AV News Awards were themed “Thank You to Amsterdam” and in- cluded a video retrospective looking back over the 15-year stay at RAI Amsterdam. Given the backdrop of the interna- tional health crisis and a storm sweeping across Europe, ISE 2020 delivered a vibrant ex- hibition floor and a compelling programme of content that in- cluded conferences, keynotes and training. The cumulative total of 116,599 visits to ISE 2020 by 52,128 unique at- tendees maintaining ISE’s po- sition as the biggest AV event in the world.

Mike Blackman, Managing Director of Integrated Systems Events, commented: “This year’s show demonstrated to us just how determined our at- tendees were to come to ISE. Many of our exhibitors exceed- ed their targets for customer engagement and lead genera- tion. The show has delivered on all fronts: as the global indus- try’s biggest annual forum, as a launchpad for new solutions, as a place to do business, and as a source of professional develop- ment and education.”

Dave Labuskes, CTS, CAE, RCDD, Chief Executive Officer of AVIXA, commented: “Having now had a few days to reflect

on our last ISE in Amsterdam, I am struck by the sheer de- termination and enthusiasm our AV industry friends and colleagues showed last week. In the face of significant challenges, thousands of peo-

ceived amazing support and

assurances of their participa- tion. LG had informed ISE ear- ly-on that they did not intend to take up their stand at show, many other major exhibitors did take part. Understandably,

registration numbers have otherwise been an accurate forecast of the final numbers at the show.

During ISE 2020, over 950 exhibitors booked their stands for ISE 2021, with 61,968

ditional Technology Zones for next year include Live Events and Lighting, Broadcast, and VR/AR/XR.

ISE 2021 will take place at the Gran Via – Fira de Barce- lona on 2-5 February 2021.

AV News facilitates ISE Involvement without risking the virus or the storm

AV News partnership with Zoom enables more than 500 more than 600 AV professionals to engage in ISE 2020 remotely, thereby avoiding travel restric- tions imposed both because of the Coronavirus and Storms Cia- ra and Dennis. With the support of Zoom Video Conferencing, AV News arranged webinars on ‘Choosing the right collaboration solution

for your clients’ and

‘Everything you need to know about dvLED’, and the annu- al AV News Awards were also streamed live from the RAI Am- sterdam venue.

ple still made the trip to the show, attended conferences and took part in the network- ing events, awards and par- ties, and engagement across the show floor was meaningful and important.”

Of the 250 top exhibitors plus many others, ISE re-

global travel restrictions result- ed in some cancellations from Chinese exhibitors. but this amounted to less than 20% of those booths. Visitor registra- tion for ISE 2020 was ahead of the total in 2019. While specific factors impacted ac- tual attendance of ISE 2020,

square metres of stand space sold by the close of the show. This equates to 82% of the available ISE 2021 show floor, and approximately 115% of this year’s exhibition floor space. Reflecting the in- creasing number of vertical markets that ISE serves, ad-
