Key to their relentless pursuit of perfection is environmental sustainability.

To quote Peter Huf, chief architect for the Company’s British operations:

“Every Huf Haus is triple glazed, fully insulated and uses renewable energy sources, such as air sourced heat pumps. Fossil fuels belong to the past.”

Peter acts as the consultant architect to private clients who want to build a Huf Haus, but his brother, Georg Huf, is the director of the Huf Haus company. This has its headquarters, offices and production facilities and Fit-out centre at Hartenfels in the Westerwald, 30 minutes from Cologne, where it employs around 300 people manufacturing components under quality controlled conditions, resulting in no waste during production or on site. It is also home to the

Huf Village where six bespoke designed show houses demonstrate the flexibility and design possibilities of timber architecture.

A Huf house has unlimited applications with maximum flexibility whether as a single storey extension, or a home of mansion proportions 3 storeys in height, or as a terrace of multiple units as evidenced by the award-winning Woodyard development of nine homes set in a conservation area of Dulwich Village in south east London. But each and every project, irrespective of however big or small, embodies the Huf Haus commitment to precision engineering and quality of construction.

On average Huf Houses cost £300 per sq ft, excluding the cost of the land and the site works, a kitchen, furniture and light fittings. The price, fixed for 12 months from the date of the quotation, includes the architectural fees. More than that, a Huf house’s structure is guaranteed for 30 years, which is far more than one gets with a conventional British house with a typical Premier Guarantee or NHBC warranty.

Construction work for the new UK headquarters at the 2,000 sq m site at Brooklands in Weybridge began on the 19th January 2015 and by the 9th of February the super structure above ground was complete and watertight.

With over a century of experience developing and refining Huf Haus architecture, and more than 20 years of building in the UK, this show house marked a new era for the firm, as they committed to delivering the most engineered house in the UK.

Building on its history of sustainable construction and its pedigree for delivering carbon neutral homes, each component of the new Huf house was designed and created in the factory in Germany, ensuring that the production of waste material during the build has been eliminated in its entirety.
