If you've not caught "Modern Family" yet on Amazon Prime, I highly recommend it. The entire cast is excellent and works well together, much as "Friends" did in the '90s.
It has made Sofía Vergara a household name and the highest- paid actress in the United States for seven years running, banking around $40 million a year. Only Scarlett Johansson topped her in 2019 with earnings of $56 million.
If you've not managed to catch it so far, Sofia Vergara has the same feisty humour and verbal dexterity as Salma Hayek while being just as eye-catching.

Vergara was born in 1972 and made her name co-hosting television shows for the Spanish language network "Univision" in the late 90"s. However her list of film appearances is not particularly notable: "The Smurfs", "Machete Kills" and the "Emoji Movie", to name a few clunkers.
However, Vergara found her niche playing Gloria Delgado- Pritchett in Modern Family being nominated for four Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards and seven Screen Actors Guild Awards.
She initially studied dentistry in her home country of Columbia but left after three years to pursue modelling and acting, moving to Miami. She honed her craft at the Creative Workshops School of Acting, where Gloria Estefan also trained.
Surprisingly, her hair is naturally blonde, but she is almost always asked to dye it black to fit in with the Latina roles she is known for. Her Columbian accent is marvellous, rolling her words and r's at a terrific rate, with beautiful timing and superb delivery. She is comedy gold.
VERGARA SOFIA
Unfortunately, her life has not been without hardship, suffering from thyroid cancer in 2000, from which she made a full recovery. Also, her older brother was killed during a kidnapping and her younger brother Julio suffers from substance addiction.
Weirdly enough, a previous relationship with Nicholas Loeb resulted in him suing her for access to embryos they had frozen, well after they had broken up, despite a clear agreement that neither could use these without their mutual consent. Loeb apparently intended to employ a surrogate carrier for the birth. There was an inheritance trust linked to the embryos, which may have explained Loeb's persistent appeals against negative court judgements. Beyond odd.
In 2014 Vergara married Joe Manganiello, known for his roles in such movies as "Blue Blood", "Magic Mike" and Justice League". Interestingly enough Manganiello had already named Vergara as his ideal woman in a People Magazine interview before they had even met.
