Flying Colours for

When you need to add pizzazz to your bar on that most elegant evening of them all – Valentine’s Day – a classic Aviation cocktail could be the perfect addition to your drinks list. Made with Brockmans Gin it is all the more special.

The elegance of the Brockmans version of The Aviation cocktail belies the fact that there are only 4 ingredients. The complexity of Brockmans, including its blackberry and blueberry notes, bitter-sweet Valencian orange peel, cassia bark and angelica, which are just some of the 11 botanicals present in Brockmans Gin, create a cocktail that is delicious to drink.

The Aviation was invented by the head bartender at the Hotel Wallick in New York over a century ago. Hugo Ensslin’s creation is a fine example of a gin sour. The Aviation, so named because of its pale and purplish sky-blue colour, is well worth revisiting. This recipe from Brockmans stays close to the original and is perfect for such a special evening.

This cocktail is featured in The Black Book of Gin Cocktails available from the Brockmans online store, as are Brockmans’ ice ball moulds.
