VIBRANT, FRESH AND EXCITING 76

Happy New Year! And, welcome back after what we hope was a wonderful Christmas for you and your family. As it's the start of a new year, we thought we'd tell you about one of our favourite new places to visit; Jack's Cafe and Tearoom in Cirencester.

Relaunching in its current guise just over a year ago, Jack's has quickly established itself as one of the most popular places to eat in Cirencester - you need only look at the number of people queueing out the door for a table for lunch on the weekend to know that this place is going to be good. Jack's is run by a relatively young team and they are all hugely enthusiastic, friendly and eager to help, making us feel right at home - surely the mark of any good café? Produce is locally sourced where possible with award-winning local butcher, Jesse Smith, providing the meat and Cirencester's very own Dolcetti providing an array of tasty ice-creams and sorbets. I've had the burger every time I've visited and been so delighted each time it's arrived at the table. There's a thick, meaty patty, streaky bacon, tomato jam, Monterey Jack cheese and harissa mayo in a fluffy, seeded brioche bun with crunchy salad and Tajin Bajo seasoned fries, bursting with chilli and lime. I'm very particular when it comes to burgers, this one really hits the spot!1

Sarah and Harry have chosen to share one of their huge paninis a few times, mostly because Harry couldn't take his eyes off it. These aren't just your average run of the mill toasties - they're oozing with rich cheese and onion, covered in toasted sesame and poppy seeds, and served with Jack's signature crunchy spiral salad. Absolutely delicious, and almost impossible to finish.

They also offer daily specials, often Mexican inspired, but always vibrant, fresh and exciting. I often get hungry looking at their Instagram feed, working out if I've got time to dash over and grab a bite. For a small kitchen, they pack in a lot of creativity and manage to deliver pretty and tasty plates consistently.

After lunch, or coffee and one of their delightful selection of irresistible homemade cakes, we usually pop into Octavia's bookshop next door. It's beautifully curated, especially for little ones, and is the ideal place to while away a lazy afternoon. If you're feeling active, head to nearby Cirencester Park; it's perfect for a leisurely stroll to burn off the calories and the chance to spot a few follies. By the time you've finished, you'll have built up enough appetite to enjoy another coffee and cake to take home with you!
