Small breeds winner Amy Jones and Moelview Milky Bar

hopes to contest some affiliated showing classes next season.

The reserve small breeds title went to Hannah Iddeson and her Welsh section B pony, Mynach Party Fun.

Claire Kinsley and Memphis of Millfield - Champion large breeds

The small breed’s title went to Welsh section B pony, Moelview Milky Bar and his rider, Amy Jones. Known as Zorro at home, Moelview Milky Bar is owned by Amy’s mother, Susan Jones and his young rider, fourteen-year-old, Amy Jones.

Zorro as the pony is known is owned by Amy’s mother Susan Jones and was bred by Jane Jones of the Moelview Stud. A delighted Amy said: “I am so pleased with him. At the start of this year we had aimed to qualify for the Royal International, and then we gave Search for a Star a go, qualified, and Your Horse Live has been the focus since then!

“It is a huge deal to have qualified and now to have gone and won. It was a real atmosphere in the ring today and the warm up time last night and this morning really helped settle us. It has been a great day out and now we get to spend the rest of the day at Your Horse Live.”

Highland pony, Memphis of Millfield, owned and ridden by Claire Kinsley took the large breeds title. Memphis is eight years old and Claire has

owned him for two years. “I have been showing for nearly 40 years having started out on the lead rein. I bought my first Highland 20 years ago and mainly concentrated on dressage before Memphis came along and we thought we would give showing a go.” Claire

Amateur riders and their Mountain and Moorland ponies have travelled the length and breadth of the country since the first Search for a Star qualifier back in April in their quest to get through to this hard-fought final at Your Horse Live. A total of sixteen ponies came before judges Sandy Wooderson and Mathew Lawrence. Sandy said: “Everyone

in this championship presented their ponies and themselves well. It is a big achievement to get here.” Mathew added: “The performance of the section D was exceptional and he rose to the occasion in the championship. The way of going in this class has improved and the competitors need to keep their focus on their ponies’ frame and transitions, these are the building blocks for what will follow.”

The SEIB Search for a Star Mountain and Moorland Championship is open to pure- bred Mountain and Moorland ponies ridden by amateur riders.
