T
he excitement runs to the wire in the 2019 SEIB Search for a Star Mountain and Moorland Championship
The second running of the SEIB Insurance Brokers Search for a Star Mountain and Moorland Championship at Your Horse Live at Stoneleigh Park on the 8th November kept the enthusiastic audience in anticipation right to the closing minutes of this popular showing final for amateur riders.
The Search for a Star Mountain and Moorland Championship title went to the large breed’s runner-up, the Welsh section D, Llanarth Red Bull owned by Dawn Hunt and ridden by her daughter Lois Hunt.
As the expert commentary in the championship - provided by top show producer, Katie Jerram-Hunnable and her Olympic eventing husband, Chris Hunnable – explained: “A championship is judged on the animals in the ring and a great
performance is needed. Each horse in the championship is in with a chance.” Judges, Sandy Wooderson (conformation) and Mathew Lawrence, (way of going) decided that Llanarth Red Bull “came alive” in the championship and was the worthy title winner.
Lois said: “I was so pleased with him, he likes a bigger space and went so much better in the championship as he could show off his big stride.” Lois also said that Rebel, as he is known at home, can be really lazy so the atmosphere helps to lift him.
Lois sadly lost her job as cabin crew for Thomas Cook recently but every cloud has a silver lining. “Whilst working away a lot I was unable to do that many shows so I am now free to compete.”
A delighted Danielle Remblance took sixth place in the large breeds with her own Darvader Billy the Kid. The Welsh section D is known as Terror at home and is testament to the saying “hard work pays off.”

Danielle explains “I took him on five years ago and he had been cut late so was a real know it all. He used to buck and rear and generally be a terror. I have worked really hard to make him understand that although I am a novice rider he must behave. I nearly gave up with him on a few occasions but with thanks to my instructor Sharon King and regular lessons we have got here which is beyond our wildest dreams.”
Danielle was full of praise for the series and encouraged others to give it a go. “I never imagined I would ever get to compete at somewhere like Your Horse Live, I am the one usually here for the shopping and to watch but it has been absolutely amazing to ride here, I loved it.”
