Foreword
It’s my honour to welcome you to the 2019 Northamptonshire Business Awards supplement. Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce
launched the awards last year to shine a light on the best businesses in the county. These awards are only presented to businesses
that have demonstrated all-round business excellence in a range of areas from customer care and staff development through to innovation, exporting and technological advancement. No one who attended the Awards Night in
September will be in any doubt about the quality of businesses we have here in Northamptonshire. Our finalists were inspirational and I know the judges had a tough time choosing the winners from such an amazing set of businesses.
I’d like to offer my congratulations to all the finalists, winners and of course the winner of this year’s Business of the Year title - Variohm Eurosensor. I’d also like to thank our host, John Griff, who
once again led the proceedings brilliantly, and the Chamber team. A big thank you also goes to our sponsors for their unwavering support – they really are fantastic champions for Northamptonshire. Finally, I’m proud to say that two of our
winners have gone on to win awards at the regional finals of the Chamber Business Awards. Well done to Barker Shoes Limited for winning E- Commerce Business of the Year and The Curve Group for winning the Workplace Wellbeing Award. We can’t wait to see how they fare in this month’s national finals.

Business of the Year Variohm Eurosensor
A leading manufacturer and supplier of sensors and associated electronic systems for more than four decades has won the top prize of £10,000 at the Northamptonshire Business Awards. Variohm Eurosensor has bases in Towcester and
in Heidelberg, Germany, and has seen its export sales grow dramatically since 2010. The company won Export Business of the Year
after impressing judges with their strong export record and were ecstatic to go on to win the biggest prize of the night – Business of the Year. Managing director Graham Pattison said: “It’s fantastic to win this award because it means so much to the whole team. “Over the past few years our business model has changed dramatically, increasing our in-house production capabilities, enabling us to offer custom solution products. For this to be successful everyone has really pulled together and worked so hard. As a result, this is a very exciting time for our business and I’m so proud of our entire team. “Looking ahead we could be facing difficult times with Brexit but our business is equipped to
expand and develop further. Hopefully that will lead to even more awards for our company and the people who work for us.” Tom Warrender, of headline sponsor Wilson
Browne Solicitors, explained why Variohm Eurosensor was chosen as the overall winner. He said: “Variohm Eurosensor has demonstrated
an ability over the years to evolve and grow. They show what can be achieved by working closely with customers and suppliers, with excellent communication proving vital; a willingness to adapt, to grow, to invest in staff, to visit customers regularly, and to adapt their product for their growing market. Their excellent ethos and demonstrated financial growth year on year made them a clear winner.” The £10,000 prize was donated by Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce, which organised the prestigious awards ceremony that was attended by around 300 leading business people from across the county. Category winners also received £1,000 in marketing support from the Chamber.
