Where there’s something to suit every wish and every pocket! Sparkly Seasons Greetings to one and all!

I trust all the pretty twinkly lights and gorgeously glittery decorations up everywhere are setting a fabulous festive tone for you and that you’re all getting well into ‘The Spirit of Christmas’… Don’t forget tonight (publication date is Thursday 21st November) is LATE NIGHT SHOPPING in town and is aptly named the ‘Spirit of Christmas’. You are sure to find many of the town’s super shops, including my own little diamond mine, will be open until 8.00pm. A great way to kick start your Christmas shopping, assuming you’re all like me and haven’t contemplated starting that task yet? It’s also just a top excuse to have a lovely leisurely mooch about our beautiful little town in all its lit-up Christmassy glory. All whilst being a super conscientious consumer and helping support Cockermouth’s independent shopkeepers like me who survive on your truly amazing support and patronage, thanks in advance for that! It really is appreciated because I really love doing what I do, which as you all know, is basically just playing with sparkles’ all day!

I have popped my Christmas and New Year opening times on below and you will see that this year, I am going to be doing late night shopping ‘til 7.00pm every Thursday evening, right up to Christmas. So, for those of you who may find it easier after work or when teatime is done, to nip out and hopefully grab a parking space right outside to drop-in and shop all things sparkly… I’m here!

Now, I feel I must make a mention back to my article in last month’s ‘Cockermouth Post’…

Firstly thank you for all the cards and well wishes that have seen me settle into my new home but just to confirm (as I have been asked), NO, I am not selling tickets to my Christmas BBQ, or taking champagne bribes (I went teetotal back in July) to get on to the guest list, sorry, he he!

Secondly, I have had it unequivocally confirmed, by literally loads of you who took the time to pop down to Main Street and stick your head through the door and tell me that living here for a decade is not remotely close enough to the required timescale to claim that I am a ‘local’! I can report that the timescale varies dramatically depending on who I speak to, 1649 being my favourite year quoted in one tale but in any case, all are longer than my 37 years on planet earth, so I am happy to remain an accepted outsider! I have to say I had a few giggles over the comments on that, didn’t think it’d ignite such a response!

So, as this year and indeed this decade draws to a close and 2020 looms large on the horizon, I feel like I should have some epic parting gem or pearl of wisdom to end this little article on but all I came up with were those two terrible jewellery-related puns! So, I shall sincerely wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year. I hope Santa makes all your bling wish list dreams come true!

Love and sparkles, Tessa xx Tuesday to Friday: 10.00am - 5.00pm • Saturday: 10.00am - 4.00pm • Sunday & Monday: Closed
