Brand New Cocktail Bar, Double Down, Launches at Northern Quarter Hotspot, Selina NQ1 Manchester
Exciting new space serves innovative cocktails, delicious food and nostalgic hip-hop vibes in partnership with Speak In Code’s Nathan Larkin and European Bartender School’s Gavin Wrigley.
One of the city’s newest additions, Selina NQ1 Manchester, opens the doors to Double Down, the latest offering for those looking for a lively, casual hangout to socialise in the bustling Northern Quarter. In collaboration with Nathan Larkin, owner of popular Manchester spot Speak In Code and Gavin Wrigley, Head of Education at The European Bartender School, the brand new spot serves up an innovative drinks menu, hip hop vibes and tasty bites – with a bar that promises something a little different.
For drinks enthusiasts, there’s an inventive menu offering craft beers at £5 and forward thinking cocktails priced at £9-10 each. For an after work tipple with a kick, the Triple Double is Double Down’s house Negroni made with Capucana Cachaca, a sustainable sugar cane liquor, Cynar, Cocchi Di Torino and finished with a twist of grapefruit. But if that’s not your thing, try the Elliot’s Nest for something sweet and tropical, a grapefruit gin based cocktail with peach liqueur and pineapple.
Highlights from the menu include: • Jane Doe made with grapefruit gin, a floral Vermouth and tonic;
• Guilty Of Everything made with Reposado Tequila, Mezcal, Amaro, sour pomegranate & hibiscus.
With a New York, big city street food vibe, Double Down is proud to serve a tempting American street food inspired selection of mouth watering, plant based hot-dogs with the wildest, tastiest toppings, all priced at just £8 each.
• Classic Dog – need we say more?
• Def Jam with a Moving Mountains Dog, a smothering of Peanut Butter Sauce, Sour Raspberry Ketchup, Pickle and Pretzel, Jalapenos.
• Pom Pomme with a Moving Mountains Dog, Sauerkraut, Pickled & Spiced Apple, Jerk May-No-Aise and a dollop of Pomegranate Molasses Ketchup.
Remember those long forgotten cassette tapes? Double Down’s laidback decor is sure to make you feel nostalgic, especially with the best classic hip-hop pumped through the space as you enjoy your cold drinks and hot dogs.
Double Down Co-Owners Nathan Larkin, (Co-Owner of Manchester’s popular Speak In Code) and Gavin Wrigley (Co-Owner of Speak In Code and Head of Education for the European Bartender School), have teamed up to showcase their unparalleled and unpretentious cocktail offering alongside an unforgettable hip hop playlist, chic decor and contemporary art-filled bar.
