Intrepid Automation, A Catalyst in Investment Casting

Our History I

ntrepid Automation was founded in 2017 by a group of printing technol- ogists with deep experience working in both large and small companies. The company was founded with the man- date of transitioning 3D printing from Prototyping to Production in a range of markets. Intrepid got started in the in- vestment casting industry through an ini- tial exploration of where our company could add value. We began information gathering by interfacing with dozens of foundries through the ICI after becom- ing an affiliate member. Though these interactions we came to the conclusion that Hybrid IC was a more future-proof,

scalable and economical approach vs direct metal printing. We focused our ef- forts on applying new 3D printing tech- nologies, robotics, advanced materials and big data to the Investment Casting market. This culminated in a solution for high quality, fast turnaround Hybrid IC patterns that bridge the gap between conventional SLA patterns and 3D print- ed wax.

What makes us truly unique is the ability to scale and produce consistent parts from prototyping all the way through to mass production.

Our Approach to Investment Casting Intrepid sees itself as a catalyst to

investment casting. “We believe that putting our technology into existing investment casting processes and optimizing those processes will enable foundries to open new market verticals and approaches,” Keith Orlebeck, head of Business Development, stated.
