THE VILLAGE OF ESTERO

www.Estero-Fl.gov

Estero was an unincorporated area of Lee County until it voted to become its own village in 2014, making it Southwest Florida’s ninth municipality. Estero’s first village election was held on March 3, 2015, and the first Village Council meet- ing was held on March 17, 2015. Te newly formed Village of Estero operates under a Council-Manager form of government, comprising seven council members elected at large from each of seven districts. Te Council members in turn elect a Mayor and Vice Mayor from their membership and appoint a Village Manager as the chief administrative officer of the Village. Te Council also appoints a Village Attorney, Assistant Village Man- ager and Village Clerk. Council members serve four-year terms, with elections held every two years.
