Adequan® Select World Wrap Up


That’s a wrap on the


2019 AQHA Select World Championship Show, presented by Adequan® (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan). AQHA Select exhibitors from the United States, Canada and Cos- ta Rica competed for 44 world championship titles August 27-31 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

GENE GRAVES SUPER-SELECT SPECIAL


Graves Super-Select Special Recog- nition Award. The award is present- ed to the Super-Select exhibitor, age 70 and over, earning the greatest number of points in competition at the 2019 Adequan® Select World. This year, 85 exhibitors competed for the award. Twylla Lynn Brown of Perry,

More than 625 horses and nearly 500 exhibitors competed in western, English and halter events with more than 950 entries for the show. In addition to Level 3 classes, the top three Super-Select and Ad- equan® Level 2 competitors were also recognized within each class. This year, 21 first-time world champions were

Action at the Will Rogers Memorial Center con- tinued outside of the arena, too! Exhibitors attended a welcome party, sponsored by Victor and Hannia Wolf and Ganadera Chomes; celebrated at two exhibitor parties – one sponsored by Markel and the other host- ed by the Will Rogers Memorial Center and the city of Fort Worth. AQHA Professional Horsemen volunteered their time to give free Ride the Pattern clinics, pre- sented by Nutrena. These clinics gave exhibitors and spectators the perfect opportunity to learn how AQHA Professional Horsemen would approach a specific 2019 Adequan® Select World pattern. Thanks to the generosity of Select exhibitors and Nutrena’s contribution to match the amount donated by attendees, the Professional Horsemen Crisis Fund raised more than $13,000.


All Around Select Amateur The most prestigious award at the Adequan®

showed her American Quarter Horse Hot Lil Assets. The 2009 sorrel mare, by Protect Your Assets and out of Barbies Hot Rod, was bred by Cheryl Lang of Humboldt, Saskatchewan. Forbes-Hanks and Hot Lil Assets earned 50 points. They earned the reserve world championship in showmanship, placed third in horsemanship and hunt seat equitation, fourth in performance halter mares and ninth in western riding. Forbes-Hanks received a prize package that in- cluded a one-year lease of a Sundowner three-horse trailer, an original Lisa Perry bronze and rose bou- quet.


The reserve Select all-around amateur is Gretch- en Ingersoll of Londonderry, NH. Ingersoll showed Good By Me. The 2013 bay gelding, by Zippos Mr Good Bar and out of A Sweet Romance, was bred by Karen Howe-Misko of Plano, TX. Ingersoll and Good By Me earned 48 points.


The third-place Select all-around amateur is Jim Bound of Fort Atkinson, WI. Bound showed the Bound To Paint Chex, who is owned by daughter Jax. The 2010 palomino gelding, by Helluva Chex and out of Guns Brownie, was bred by Hilldale Farm of Brashear, TX. Bound and Bound To Paint Chex earned 39 points.


Bound is the fourth-place all-around amateur


with Bound To Be Dun, owned by JB Bound of Fort Atkinson. The 2008 red dun gelding, who is by Dun It Gotta Gun and out of Not Dun Cookin, was bred by Jim’s wife, Lisa Lubbert. Bound and Bound To Be Dun earned 33 points. The fifth-place Select all-around amateur is


Dan Yeager of Dallas. Yeager showed Cracking The Code. The 2010 chestnut gelding, by VS Code Red and out of Shes A Krymsun, was bred by Susan and James Smanik of Maineville, OH. Yeager and Crack- ing The Code earned 30 points.


The Select all-around amateur third- through


fifth-place award winners received a prize package that included $1,000.
