A medal-winning host for BIFA awards celebration

Entries to the BIFA Freight Service Awards are due early this month – today is the day to put the final touches to your submission and deliver to eventsoffice@bifa.org

Readers familiar with the BIFA Awards format will know that all entries are reviewed after the closing date and a shortlist of finalists announced for each category. Representatives of the finalists are in for a gold standard of a celebration at the BIFA Freight Service Awards ceremony on Thursday 16 January 2020 in the presence of TV presenter and wheelchair basketball star Ade Adepitan MBE. Having survived polio as a youngster, Ade has

succeeded as an international Paralympic wheelchair basketball player and has an extensive CV of broadcasting experience, including appearances on CBBC and documentaries such as Dispatches, Unreported World, World’s Busiest Cities and, in 2019, Africa with Ade Adepitan. He is also a regular on the One Show and co-host for major sporting events. On the basketball court, Ade’s achievements include a Bronze medal in the Athens Paralympics, Silver in the European Championships and Gold in the World Championships. BIFA Director General Robert Keen commented: “Overcoming challenges to achieve success characterises all of the companies that

win a BIFA Freight Service Award. Ade Adepitan is a great example of someone that has responded to the challenges of childhood polio to develop a very successful career as an international wheelchair basketball player and a reputation as one of the UK’s most popular broadcasters.” BIFA is grateful to the following ceremony sponsors of the BIFA Freight Service Awards: • ASM (UK) Ltd – sponsor of event host Ade Adepitan

• CNS – sponsor of the multimedia presentation • MCP plc – sponsor of the finalists’ certificates • Menzies – sponsor of the AV relay monitors • Simpex Express – sponsor of the ceremony tickets

• Wisetech Global – sponsor of the event programme

• Woodland Group – sponsor of the winners’ trophies Tickets will go on sale later this month for the

luncheon ceremony, which will take place at its traditional venue of The Brewery in Central London. The afternoon begins with a drinks reception followed by presentation of the finalists before a delicious three-course luncheon. After dinner we will hear from Ade Adepitan and conclude with the announcement of award winners by the category sponsor representative. Book your tickets at www.bifa.org/awards
