Lifesaving Instructor Lifesaving instructors are responsible for teaching and evaluating candidates participating in the Canadian Swim Patrol, Bronze Medals, Distinction, Boat Rescue and Lifesaving Society CPR programs. the Lifesaving Instructor course prepares instructors to apply for level 1 leadership competencies and strategies designed to teach lifesaving and water rescue education - judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness. Lifesaving Instructor certification is the prerequisite for other Lifesaving Society instructor certifications. Certification in Alberta and Northwest Territories includes CPR Instructor certification.

Water Safety Instructor This course further develops instructional ability by focusing on how to effectively plan and teach the Red Cross Swim Program curriculum. Other topics include instructional emergency response skills and stroke development, drills and corrective strategies. Candidates apply their teaching skills and knowledge during 9 - 11 hours of practical teaching experience.
Pre-course Requirements:
• 15 years old • Current Emergency First Aid or higher • Red Cross Assistant Lifeguard Certificate (need not be current) OR
• Bronze Cross Certificate (need not be current) * Must register for Skill Assessment with corresponding course
