Whichever way you choose to stay active this summer, stay healthy, especially if you’re exercising outdoors. Here are a few things to consider:


Allergies Being outdoors can trigger hayfever symptoms so ask your local Careway pharmacist how to be prepared – for instance if you think you may be affected you may need to take an antihistamine tablet before you leave home.


Hydration Exercising, especially in hot weather, means it’s important to drink fluids regularly to avoid dehydration (also remember babies, children and the elderly are more at risk). Always carry a large bottle of water with you when you’re out and about.


First aid Summer activities can cause minor injuries such as cuts, grazes and bruises. Make sure you have a first aid kit handy that contains basic items such as alcohol-free wipes, assorted plasters, assorted bandages and dressings, antiseptic cream and painkillers (ask your pharmacist to recommend essential first aid items).
