Health Tips to look younger and live longer...

10Ways to Practice Self-Care Most people think that self-care is only a luxury afforded to those who have lots of time on their hands. This interpretation is wrong. According to life coach and author Cheryl Richardson, self-care isn't about time management, it's about self-manage- ment -- that is, managing yourself by using your energy on things that bring you joy. You have to learn to be selfish in a mean- ingful way which means saying no to cer- tain obligations so you can say yes to yourself to better yourmind, body, and soul. In order to live a good life, you must learn how to take care of yourself. Make time in your schedule to practice self-care with some of these tips.

Create a Self-Care Bowl Take a bowl or a jar and fill it with slips of paper that have self-care suggestions on them. These ideas should be able to be com- pleted in 20 minutes or less and should bring you joy, peace, and relaxation. When you feel anxious, stressed, and in desperate need of TLC, pull out a piece of paper and do whatever it says. WriteYourself a Love Letter Set a timer and take 10 to 20minutes out of your day to sit down with a piece of paper and a pen and write yourself a letter.Write anything that comes to yourmind, it can be cathartic to put your problems and anxieties on paper to help solve them. While you can choose to write about anything, make sure to include the things that you love and admire about yourself to help you remem- ber how great you are.

Put on SomeMusic and Dance Play your favorite song or a playlist of your favorite genre and dance like nobody's watching. Music can really soothe your mind while the physical act of dancing can help calm your frustrations. Call SomeoneYou Love Take a moment out of your day to call a familymember or friend you've beenmean- ing to catch up with. Chatting on the phone can help you de-stress and if you're having a problem, the person on the other endmay be able to offer you good advice. If they don't answer the phone, that's okay -- leave amessage and schedule extra self-care time for when they call you back. Take a Nap Catching up on sleep and recharging your body is a great self-care activity. Many people don't think that they need a nap, but taking a 20-minute nap may do more good than harm. Rest, recharge, and get ready to continue the rest of your day with energy. Go For aWalk Getting some fresh airmay be exactly what your body needs to unwind. Get up and get moving to wake yourself up and get some beneficial exercise. Enjoy the beautiful scenery around you and use this time to be onewith your thoughts. If it's too cold to go for a walk outside you can always practice self-care by taking a stroll inside. BuyYourself Flowers Improve the look of your kitchen or your roomby buying some flowers. Both the act of picking out the flowers and having them displayed in your home is an act of self-care that can help you relax and appreciate the small things in life.

Bake Something Fun and Then Share A lot of people find that baking can help relieve stress and tension. Find a newrecipe or bake your favorite cookies to help you relax and self-soothe. Make sure to share with family, friends, co-workers, or neigh- bors when you are done to spread the love. Do Something Embarassing Dance like crazy, run around, scream: do something that would be considered embarrassing if someone else was around towatch. Engaging in activities you like or want to do without fear of judgment or consequence can be very therapeutic. Complete a RandomAct of Kindness Do something nice for a stranger. Performing a random act of kindness can boost your self-esteem and help you to appreciate life just a little more than you did before.

Try Something New Do something you've never done before. Whether it's putting together a puzzle, trying to paint, reading something from a new genre, or trying your hand at cooking, use your energy to try something you've al- wayswanted to but nevermade the time for. Who knows, if you like the new activity it may just become your go-to method of self-care.
