Shirdleyhill Tara &

Guards Jester I

ntroducing a 22 year old Fell Pony mare. Out of Hiljon Black Magic and by Townend Jonty. We have co-owned Tara since 2005 with Mrs J Hill. She is the kindest most gentle pony. Before owning Tara she produced some lovely foals.

We thought we would give Royal Windsor a go, entering her into the Senior inhand class. The 3 senior in hand classes had around 90 horses and ponies entered in them and was hot competition! Tara was awarded with 2nd place and achieved the highest confirmation and

suppleness mark (29/30 & 19/20) over the 3 huge classes! We are looking forward to what this year entails in the SSADL classes.

In 2006 we took her to the Royal Show at Stoneleigh, she exceeded all our expectations when she stood Fell Champion! In 2007 Tara competed in the Fell class at Royal Windsor where she came 1st beating HM Queen’s Fell mare into 2nd place. HM was ringside watching! 2010 Tara took Supreme of Show at EANPS, winning both the Fell Ridden and inhand classes and overall Mare of the show! Tara has been in the field for the last 6 years or so as a

companion pony to our Shetland and other elderly Fell mare, Wolds Storm Petrel. Sadly Bonnie (Wolds Storm Petrel) was put to sleep last summer at the age of 21 after being with us for 17 years. So we decided to bring Tara back into work as she was looking

and obviously feeling so well!

My Mum (Lorna Brooks) has taken over the reins showing Tara now as I compete my Senior Fell Stallion Guards Jester. Her first show out this year was to the SORC Show at BCA back in April. She was 1st in the Mountain & Moorland class in hand and 2nd in the Vet- erans. We then took her to The Showing Register Show at Onley at beginning of May, where she was 2nd in her Veteran age group and 2nd overall.

She really is worth her weight in gold having taught various friends and family to ride over the years. She is been Champion at many County and Royal Shows including Royal Cornwall and Bucks County. She is been a winner of many NPS Silver Medals over the years! Tara and Jester are fed on Topspec Senior and we really believe this helps to maintain their healthy weight and joints and lovely shine in the coat. Our aim is to qualify her for the SSADL finals at Olympia!

We also own Guards Jester a 20 year old Fell Stallion by Heltondale Bellman V and out of Guards Joanne. We have owned him for the last 10 years. He was a successful stud stallion before we owned him and he is bred 26 foals, some of which have their own children now making Pookie a grandad!!

Pookie has had a successful show career both

ridden and inhand. He has been placed in HOYS Qualifiers and qualified for Olympia in the SSADL Finals in 2015. At the SSADL finals at Olympia 2015 Pookie was crowned overall Senior In hand Champion out of thousands of horses and ponies who had competed over the year.
