Our successes continued at the Wiltshire schools swimming competition where our KS3 Swimming Team retained their county champions status.
RWBA rugby had a fantastic season playing over 30 competitive Fixtures against other schools and reaching the Swindon Schools finals in both the Year 7 and Year 9 age groups. The boys showed great commitment to the teams attending training sessions and Fixtures even when the winter weather kicked in.
The RWBA Dance team have been a flagship team this year, training twice a week for an array of performances and competitions, the commitment shown by the members of this team has been phenomenal. The highlight, so far of this academic year, was the stunning performance at the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon which saw the Team crowned regional Great Big Dance Off champions, the team will compete at the national finals in Cheltenham in June. Good Luck!
Football at The academy has yet again been very successful this academic year for both boys and girls, with over 50 competitive Fixtures played and fantastic success both at Swindon and County Level. The Key stage 3 and 4 Cross Country teams had a very successful north Wiltshire schools competition at Grittleton House in November, 7 RWBA pupils were selected for the North Wiltshire schools Squad to compete at the county championships. There was also a fantastic level of effort shown by all pupils at the academy in the inter- house cross country event which took place in some tricky conditions in January.
RWBA had a great start to the cricket season and a very successful indoor cricket season with teams competing in the Wiltshire schools indoor softball at both U13 and U15 age groups in both boys and girls competitions. Our U13 boys were crowned County softball Champions at Trowbridge CC in June, some fantastic batting and bowling performances from all the pupils in the team saw them undefeated throughout the festival.
Athletics has started with a bang this summer, with phenomenal attendance at Athletics club after school. We took 46 students to the Area trials for north Wiltshire Schools at the University
of Bath, 13 pupils qualified with some fantastic performances from a number of individual pupils. Our year 7 pentathlon Team were worthy winners of the recent competition at Marlborough College with Yr 7 Tom Woods being crowned the overall winner.
