Spring School Games Festival held at Dauntsey’s School
The 22nd March saw 576 young athletes from 45 schools compete in the county finals of 5 different sports. They were supported by 40 sports leaders who worked hard as umpires, timekeepers, and chaperones to make the day a success. Although the weather was a bit cold for March, the event ran smoothly and there were smiles all round.
Montell Douglas, a GB sprinter turned bobsleigh athlete, attended the festival as Sporting Champion. She represented Great Britain at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing in both the 100m and the 4x100m relay, reaching the

final in the latter. In 2017 she took up bobsleigh and became part of the Great Britain women’s two-woman bobsleigh team the following year.
Montell was a great presence throughout the day and there were plenty of opportunities for her to chat with the young athletes in between medal presentations.

It was also exciting to have Lewis Moody, former England rugby union captain, make an appearance at the festival.
Lewis got to watch a lot of high quality sport as well as meet some of the young athletes. Thank you to Montell and Louis for being part of this year’s festival!
