North Wiltshire Area Athletics Trials at Bath University YR9 Lucas Joyce

YR10 Charlotte Cook YR10 Evie Waters YR10 Harvey Crisp YR11 Archie Pierce YR12 Ellery Cole YR13 Ethan Pierce

At the end of May, Abbeyfield took 20 of its elite athletes to Bath University for the North Wiltshire Area Athletics Trials.

This event enables students to get personal bests and compete with a high standard of athletes from other schools in Wiltshire. If successful, athletes qualify for the Wiltshire Schools Athletic Association Championships in June in Swindon. This day will see many of Wiltshire’s top athletes racing trying to get a place in the Wiltshire Team and a chance to compete in the Schools Nationals.

Lots of tough competition and many students getting PBs on the day, students selected through to the next round would have come close or achieved the time or distance standard

Abbeyfield hosts primary All Active Academy

Abbeyfield opened its doors to the local primary schools for the All Active Academy. This programme is designed to support pupils who are finding it hard to engage in PE and sport. Each pupil has been invited to attend three different workshops with the last day Friday 10th June being at Bath University. The children will look at the facilities, meet sporting starts and take part i n a range of activities and sessions. The Abbeyfield workshops focus on basic coordination, agility and balance – activities, Tri-Golf, Squash, and Handball. There is also a focus on how to live a healthy and active lifestyle.

The day is supported by the Abbeyfield Sports Ambassadors who work with and support the children in gaining experience and confidence in each sport. Overall a very exciting and fun-packed day, the Abbeyfield Sports Ambassadors supporting the All Active Academy and working with the primary students to ensure everyone that attended had a fantastic positive experience of sport.
