Laverstock School Sport Partnership Year 3&4 Gymnastics Festival
On the 23rd and 28th January St Edmund’s hosted the year 3&4 Gymnastics Festival. The year 10 St Edmund’s pupils designed and led 6 stations: the beam; rolls; balances; shaped flight; vaulting and rhythmic gymnastics. Eight schools attended over the two dates. Feedback from the pupils who participated was extremely positive with many making very good progress and trying new things. Teachers remarked how supportive the St Edmund’s leaders were.
Year 5&6 HIGH 5 Netball
The rearranged year 5&6 HIGH 5 Netball tournament was held on Wednesday 30th January. It was a bright but freezing morning but all teams were keen to play. In a hotly contested final, St Mark’s just pipped St Andrew’s to first place with Greentrees placing third. Well done to all the eight teams who competed.
Year 1&2 FUNdamentals
Ten schools brought their year 1 and 2 class to the FUNdamentals on 6th February at St Edmund’s – that is 300 pupils! They worked their way around 15 stations working on the agility, balance and coordination. Well done to the class of year 10 St Edmund’s leaders who designed and ran the festival.

primary schools. This is before/during/ after school with the aim of every child completing at least 30 minutes of activity in school per day. Winterslow, St Osmund’s, Winterbourne, St Andrew’s and St Mark’s brought a class of year 3 pupils, that’s over 120 pupils!
The six stations were designed and lead by the St Edmund’s year 9 Young Ambassadors with the idea being that there were simple and used limited equipment so could be easily replicated at school. We finished the day with hobby horse races, which was excellent fun!
